Weimax takes the guess-work out of buying wine, as the shop is fully-stocked with taste-tested bottlings from around the world. Gerald, Ellen and Bob will be happy to help you pair great wines with your menu. And while there are deluxe wines in the shop, they still have lots of good wine in the $5 to $15 price range. There's a tasting room, too.

How long have you been in business?
Weimax is a Burlingame institution, having been founded in 1961. It is still run by the same family.
What is your primary product or service?
We are professional wine scouts and seek out good, soulful wines which are typical of where they are grown. We have an eclectic selection which brings customers from well out of San Mateo County to shop for wine. Our staffers (we are a team of 4) are all wine knowledgeable and routinely guide customers to just the right wine...
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We grew up "in the business."
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Most places buy according to numerical point scores, we are a Parker and Spectator-Free Zone. Our selections are made with care and we taste before buying so we can assure customers of good wines. Further, we have great respect for a ten dollar bill (but there are many deluxe bottles in the shop). You'll find numerous off-the-beaten path wines in the shop, with a great selection of Italian and French, but also Spain, Portugal, German, Austrian and Southern Hemisphere selections...and, of course, there are top wines from the West Coast, too! The store has a tasting room which is open Monday through Saturday...We deliver lots of gift packages in the immediate area and ship via UPS to most places.

We are located 3 blocks west of Highway 101, the Bayshore Freeway, in close proximity to San Francisco Airport hotels. We are 4 blocks east of El Camino Real. 1178 Broadway, near Preston's Candies & Ice Cream and next to Bonne Sante, home of Burlingame's biggest sandwiches.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, local checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Excess.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday 9-7. Tuesday through Saturday 9-7:30. Closed Sundays and most holidays.
